CONSUMER TIPS- EVENT SITES



A conference center is more than just a room with chairs and an overhead projector. If you are planning a meeting or a special party, you want everything to go without a hitch, obviously. But if a special need arises, you want your event site to cater to it. The International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) has established a standard for its membership:

  1. A minimum percentage- usually 70%- of space dedicated for conferences

    Conference rooms available around the clock

  2. Tables with hard writing surfaces and upholstered armchairs that keep occupants comfortable during long sessions

  3. Lighting, acoustics and wall surfaces all designed for the special needs of conference business

  4. Rooms individually climate controlled

  5. Electrical, AV and telephone outlets sufficient for conference needs

While these standards are rigorous and essential for some meetings, you should know what requirements your group will need before speaking with various conference centers. This will allow them to assist you to the best of their ability and will lead to a pleasant experience with professional respect on both sides.
